What We Offer
Classes
Ubuntu Ceramics will open in 2026 with a range of classes that center process, experimentation, and cultural connection. Our wheel-throwing and handbuilding courses are designed for beginner, intermediate and experienced potters who want to grow their practice within a supportive, community-first environment. In addition to foundational classes, we’ll offer specialty workshops that explore heritage, material history, and the many ways ceramics reflect who we are, both individually and collectively.
Wheel Throwing
Wheel Throwing classes will introduce and expand on the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel. Students will learn to center clay, pull walls, and shape a variety of forms, from small vessels to large statement pieces. This practice offers a rhythmic and meditative way to create symmetrical forms guided by the steady motion of the wheel.
Hand Building
Handbuilding classes will explore the tactile possibilities of clay and the creative freedom that comes from shaping forms directly by hand. Through coil building, slab construction, and pinch techniques, students will discover how to create both functional and sculptural pieces that reflect their individual approach to form.
Special Programming
Our special programming will include workshops and short courses that invite deeper exploration. Some will focus on technical skill-building for more experienced potters, while others will center on community and accessibility, welcoming participants of all experience levels to discover new ways of working with clay.
Memberships
Our membership program will offer several access levels to support a range of creative needs and budgets. Membership at Ubuntu Ceramics is rooted in the belief that creativity deepens in community and that the act of making together builds both skill and connection.
